I work at the intersection of architected materials, additive manufacturing, and shape memory alloys. My research focuses on designing, fabricating, and characterizing high-performance lattice structures for lightweight, energy-absorbing, and functionally adaptive applications.
Core areas
- Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) metamaterials (Gyroid, Schwartz Primitive, Diamond, etc.)
- Additive manufacturing of metals and polymers
– Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) of NiTi shape memory alloys
– Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) of fiber-reinforced polymer composites
– Hybrid manufacturing routes (e.g., SLA patterns + investment casting) - Shape memory alloys (NiTi and Cu-based systems)
- Interpenetrating phase composites (IPCs)
- Process–structure–property relationships
- Mechanical characterization (compression, bending, fatigue) and microstructural & thermal analysis
Current focus
Development of large-scale TPMS structures using hybrid and polymer additive manufacturing techniques, with emphasis on mechanical performance, energy absorption, and vibration damping.
